Recycled Planters

In the 46 years that Decorfolia have been caring for interior plants the plant pot industry has evolved immensely. Back in the 1970's you would see just a few basic shapes made from traditional ceramics, fibreglass, wood or polished metals like brass and stainless steel. Now there is a plethora of interesting designs manufactured from the same traditional materials, plus more modern injection or rotational moulded high tech plastics that are infinitely recyclable.
Here are some of the popular shapes on offer https://decorfolia.co.uk/pots

A stack of old plant potsThough a lot of the traditional pots are still available and are now regarded as ‘retro’ the colour choices have constantly changed to reflect fashions of the time. The burnt oranges, metal flake purple and chocolate browns of the 1970’s got superseded by predominately company corporate colours in the 1980’s and 90’s. Now anything goes, we have bright orange and lime green pots side by side on contracts, every shade of grey, white and black in a gloss or matt finish and more recently recycled wooden fruit crates and planters made from old pallets.

Which brings me to the subject of this newsletter, recycled planters. When the pots come to the end of their career and get retired we do not throw them away. If they are in perfect condition they get wrapped up and stored ready for a new contract. Alas though, not all come back looking as fresh as the day they left here so these we sell for a nominal fee just to cover our costs.

Fibreglass and plastic pots can be repainted if required and adapted for outside use and have many roles to play from small pond liners to raised beds on allotments, colourful statements in gardens and on balconies, some have even ended up as water butts and beehive stands...
